Take a Staycation in Toronto

Forced to stay home this summer but desperately in need of a vacation to give you a much-needed mental break from COVID-!9, work, kids underfoot? Or maybe lack of work has cut your vacation budget but you still need a getaway from the daily grind?

Try a staycation.

If you live in a city, a staycation can mean day trips in and near the city or you can include accommodation and feel like you really are a traveler. If you live outside the city, visit a town that you have never been to and discover why others make the trip.

In Toronto – whether you live hear or are coming from afar, as well as the many hotels in the city, you can find some unique accommodation in people’s homes (airbnb.ca) or try a stay on a boat on Lake Ontario.

Tourist Attractions

If you search “what to see in Toronto” you will come up with numerous lists that include all the usual: CN Tower, Casa Loma, AGO, ROM, Ripley’s Aquarium, Ontario Science Centre, Rogers Centre, Entertainment District, Distillery District, Black Creek Pioneer Village or Fort York to study local history, St. Lawrence or Kensington markets to buy the ingredients for a picnic, and one of the many parks like Toronto Islands or High Park for that picnic.

I have explored and recommend all of these Toronto hot-spots. But I also recommend you get off the” beaten path” occasionally and discover some of the things in the heart of the city  that make me say #ilovetoronto  like sculpture gardens, universities and smaller museums.

If you are planning a staycation in your city, you can find more tips in this article How to Staycation in Toronto in 2020. The searches and tips can be applied to any locale – just substitute the name of your hometown when searching for a place to stay or explore.
